MCA turns 62 amid an eventful celebration

The Star, Monday 28 February 2011

THE mood at the MCA 62nd anniversary celebration, which kicked off at 9am, in Wisma MCA, Kuala Lumpur yesterday was upbeat.
True to its celebration theme “1MCA, People First”, party president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek began the ceremony by launching six mobile service vehicles, all bearing registration numbers starting with MCA.

The mobile units would reach out to the poor and needy — providing services like health screening, public service and complaints, and consultation and applications.

This was followed by a two-hour ceremony at the San Choon Hall with programmes like hoisting the national and party flags, singing the national anthem, party songs, address by Dr Chua and secretary-general Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha, a cake-cutting ceremony, wushu performances, video clip presentation and dance and choir performances.

Dr Chua said party unity and love for the party was the best gift MCA members could give to the party on this joyous and meaningful occasion.
Party unity, he added, was for the party, Barisan Nasional, the country and the people’s future.
The event, attended by some 2,000 grassroots leaders and representatives from Chinese organisations, ended at noon.
