Paying homage to Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu
In Penang, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said Dr Lim was a national leader who had championed the cause of the rakyat for more than 30 years. He said Dr Lim was well accepted by all races as his political struggle transcended colour and creed. “We are saddened over the loss of a negarawan (nationalist). His vast contribution will always be remembered by the rakyat. “We in the MCA also appreciate his contribution when he was the party’s second president in 1958. “Although it was only a short stint, his tenure as the party president was considered the most challenging in the history of Malaysia,” said Dr Chua after paying his last respects at Dewan Sri Pinang here yesterday.
